Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Integrative Health and Nutrition Coaching FAQ's
What is the average duration of this course? This course has been accredited at 620 hours. We recommend studying a minimum of 7 hours per week. You have up to 18 months to complete. Learners take on average 12 months to complete, studying at their own pace.
What is the ratio of coaching to nutrition and health? We believe that a good health coach should have a solid knowledge of nutrition and health related subjects, so the course materials are fairly equally split 1/3 coaching, 1/3 nutrition and 1/3 health subjects. On the live sessions we focus more on the coaching aspects to give you plenty of practical skills as a health coach. We also have plenty of specialist live Zoom workshops where we delve deeper into nutrition, health and lifestyle wellness.
Are there assignments, exams and case studies? How is the course assessed? At the end of most of the modules there will be some type of assignment, usually short essay style, Q&A or self-reflection. There is also an end of course knowledge review. All learners have to undertake 25 coaching sessions, which constitutes your case studies. We give ample training prior to this, and help our learners to access people looking to volunteer.
How long do I keep access to the course for? Once you graduate, you can join our alumni, with access to the course materials for the lifetime of the course that you have booked. Many of our graduates become student mentors, and as a thank-you gesture, they will get access to all course upgrades for the duration.
What are the career prospects for Health and Nutrition Coaches? Health Coaching is the fastest growing profession within the health and wellbeing industry. The NHS currently employ around 1,300 Health Coaches (as of April 2024), and are looking to grow this number. Many Health Coaches are attached to GP surgeries, and there is a growing number of businesses that use Health Coaches for employee wellbeing. We also teach our Health Coaches how to work with 1-on-1 clients, group coaching, and how to develop coaching programmes, which gives them the best start in running their own coaching practice. Health & Nutrition Coaches charge anywhere between £50 and £100 per session, depending on where they are based. Some of our own tutors charge £125 to £250 per session for their service.
Why is your course considerably less than others with similar accreditations? We are quite unique in that we are a not-for-profit training company. Because we do not have to pay out dividends to shareholders, we can keep our course fees low. We also do not employ sales people to sell our courses. If you book a call to discuss a course, you will speak to one of our actual course tutors, who are best placed to give you the most accurate advice about the course and the industry, and don't follow a script.
Do I need to attend live sessions? We offer live weekly teaching sessions on Zoom, and to enable you to join the UKIHCA as a full member, you need to attend 120 hours of live sessions over the period of your course.
What support do you offer? We pride ourselves in offering the best support around! As well as weekly supervised online peer support groups, we offer monthly supervision, and pastoral support. For those who can visit us in Manchester, we offer regular face-to-face networking events at our beautiful Monastery venue.
Which organisations can I join? Upon successful completion of the course, if you have attended 120 hours of live sessions, you will be eligible to join the UKIHCA as a FULL member. If you have not met the 120 hours criteria, you can join them as an affiliate. You can also join IICT, IPHM, FNTP, and we also recommend you join the Nutrition Society.
